If youâre a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or tax resident), youâll need to complete a W-9 form to receive payments. This form provides your tax information so we can report your income to the IRS as required by U.S. law.

đ Step 1: Start the form
- In the Tax Form section of the Widget, click âComplete a Tax Formâ button.
- If you already started one, click the pencil icon to continue.

đşđ¸Â Step 2: Select your tax status
- When asked âAre you a U.S person?â, choose âI am a U.S personâ.
This means youâre a U.S citizen or resident for tax purposes.

đââď¸Â Step 3: Enter personal or business information

Name: Enter your full legal name. This should match the name associated with your SSN or EIN.

Business Name(Optional): Enter your business name here. (Recommended if you operate under a business name)

Address: Enter your current U.S. residential address or your U.S. business address.
- đŤÂ Do not enter a foreign address. The IRS requires a valid U.S. address because the W-9 is only for U.S. Persons.
- đŤÂ Do not use someone elseâs U.S. address unless itâs legally connected to you.
- â FAQ: What if I donât live in the U.S. right now?
You can use a U.S. address youâre legally connected to (like your parentsâ home), as long as youâre a U.S. Person and can receive mail there. Make sure it matches your IRS records.

đŞŞÂ Step 4: Enter your Tax Identification Number(TIN)
- Federal Tax Classification: Select the option that best describes how you or your business is set up for tax purposes.
- Hereâs what to enter:
- If youâre an individual or sole proprietor â SSN(Social Security Number)
- If youâre a business or LLC taxed as a corporation â EIN(Employer Identification Number)
â ď¸Â Your TIN must match the name you entered at the top of the form.
If they donât match, your form could be rejected or lead to backup withholding.
